Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on General Manager to lead our growth. You’ll be responsible for driving client acquisition, coordinating and scaling sales, payments, development, and business analysis teams, and establishing the operational backbone of the business. As we grow, you will help shape both culture and strategy—so a track record of leadership in early-stage ventures or emerging markets is essential.
In the early stage, you will directly lead client acquisition, requiring strong business acumen, credibility with C-level executives, and a powerful network in PNG or the wider Asia-Pacific region. Over time, you'll scale the team and move into a more strategic leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Acquisition & Business Development
- Actively lead outreach, pitches, and relationship building with enterprise, government, and SME clients
- Leverage personal network to win early partnerships and contracts
- Define and optimize our sales funnel for scalable growth

- Team Leadership & Operations
- Coach and coordinate cross-functional teams including sales, payments, development, and business analysts
- Build team culture and performance frameworks as we scale
- Translate business needs into executable plans with clear KPIs

- Strategic Execution
- Develop short- and long-term growth strategies aligned with our product roadmap
- Represent 1-Tok at industry events, forums, and client meetings
- Work closely with the Founders to secure investment and strategic partnerships

Responsibilities

Must Have
- Bachelor Degree or Higher
- Passion for software products
- Perfect written English
- Highly creative and autonomous
- Valid work permit for Papua New Guinea
Nice to have
- Experience in managing sales professionals
- Additional languages - Tok Pisin and other languages a plus
- Experience working in software sales and solution design
- Strong analytical, conflict resolution and relationship building skills
